Burgess Beds - Embedded in History
Burgess was established in 1927 by Harry Burgess and was incorporated as a limited company in 1955. For over 80 years, Burgess has remained very much a family run business and has manufactured, without compromise, hand crafted, quality beds for the home, hotels, shipping lines and many more institutions.
The original Burgess Bedding factory was based near Hen Market in Shudehill. It was next door to the local "Rovers Return" inn - which sadly was demolished after the war.
By the late 1920's, the Burgess Bedding Company, as it was then known, had already secured the business of many independent high street customers as well as multiple chain outlets.
Burgess spent many years situated on Pollard street, Manchester. When the Mill was sold for development we moved to the Rossendale Valley in Helmshore where they are to this day.
When Harry Burgess passed down his name he made them sign an agreement which stipulated "Do not make a mockery of my name". It is this ethos that they have worked by for over 90 years and that a proud reputation has been earned. They still hand make everything to order and pass down the skills that have been passed to us. Our products are designed and built to last and are all made in our factory in the Rossendale valley in Lancashire.
